Suitable for: Nurses, Allied health professionals

Evidence-based practice (EBP)
(Medical/Allied health)

Suitable for: Clinicians with basic computer skills who are interested in EBP and searching secondary databases
Objectives:
  • Effectively search Cochrane Library
  • Search Clinical Evidence
  • Awareness of further Best Practice resources and developments
  Includes practice exercises and training notes

Evidence-based practice (EBP)

Suitable for: Nurses with basic computer skills and search skills who want to use EBP resources more effectively

EndNote (1 hour)
Suitable for: Clinicians who want to learn the basics of this reference manager software
Objectives:
  • Create a new library
  • Input references
  • Search for references / copy references
  • Change reference styles
  • Cite while you write
  • Import citations directly from Ovid Medline into EndNote
  Includes training notes

Medline for beginners (1 hour)
Suitable for: Clinicians with basic computer skills but limited or no Medline searching skills
Objectives:
  • Access Medline database
  • Complete basic Medline search
  • Combine searches and limit results
  • View and select results

Advanced Medline (1hour)
Suitable for: Clinicians who already use Medline but who wish to know more about the advanced features
Objectives: Learn about

  • Truncation
  • Saved searches 
  • Filters
  • Keyboard shortcuts
  • Importing citations into EndNote
  Includes practice exercises and training notes

Can't Make it? If you cannot attend a course you have booked please notify us at least 3 working days in advance so that we can reallocate your place to another person.
In the event that a session has to be cancelled, we will notify you 2 days before the course schedule date.  We will attempt to offer an alternative date for a course which has been cancelled.
